A post dedicated to Covid 19

This week is 3rd week of circuit breakers, 1 day after announcement of extension of circuit breaker till 1 June.

The 1st confirmed case in Singapore was on 23 Jan, 2 days before CNY. Everything was still going well for me until 13 Mar when i receive a call from MOH during dinner that Mummy and I will be issued a quarantine order (QO) due to a confirm case in our weekly yoga class.

This is the start of my horror. On 14 Mar, our QO started. Mum and me are to stay home till 24 Mar (in total 11 days). We are not to even step out of our house to throw rubbish or water plants. Round 1 challenge. Finally after 11 days, we are free! However, due to my QO, my office kick started Business Continuity Plan (BCP), where my department is split into 2 team, alternate work week. I am on Team A, therefore i get to return to office on 23 Mar. The anticipation to head back is something i will never say i appreciate until the QO. Taking the train, stepping into the office, the freezing cold aircon. However, what was missing was my colleagues, my clique, my sane supporters. On the other hand, i see the difference in time spend. Instead of preparing to go work and watching drama, the 3 hours for prepping and journey to and fro to work could had been spend relaxing in bed or even having a proper start to the morning. It is these differences that i slowly appreciate the pro and cons of working from office and WFH. There is always a trade off in every situation.

Finally when i thought that after 2 weeks of staying at home, i could at least hit the waters but unfortunately on the last day of my QO, the government announce social distancing and closed all entertainment venues with effect on 26 Mar 11.59pm. There goes my kayaking session on 28 Mar which also  the 3 star assessment date. There goes all our plan. Fortunately, i scheduled a hangout day with Shar at her home on Sun.

At the very least i get to hangout with Shar. We had a great time together, sewing the spray cover for Joe's Kokonut and spend lots of time chatting and her sharing with me her life experience in dating and tips on "pruning" out the guys that ain't worth our effort and time. From out chat the 2 important take away i had was:- 1) Instead of reactive, let's take a breather and be proactive instead. 2) If a man is interested in you, he will be take initiative. He will also share with you instead of you asking. 3) Do ask all the important questions early in the relationship, this will help save you from heartbreaks as what is the point of continuing developing the relationship when you know it will not amount to anything in the future. We are no longer young. Everyone only have 24 hours a day and we should use it wisely.

Following week, it is back to Work From Home (WFH). It is really difficult WFH. Everyday i have the daily worries about meals. Initially it was very refreshing to home cook lunch and dinner. However, as the days goes, i start craving for outside food. Gradually, the idea of cooking became a hassle and every time one of the family ask me what's for lunch/dinner, it no longer felt refreshing but a burden. This is the same with everything once the freshness is gone and dullness set in.

An important date, 3 Apr, PM Lee announced the "circuit breaker (CB)" will run from Apr 7 to May 4. Only essential services can continue to keep their premises open, and all schools will close and students shift to home-based learning. Masks should be used when people leave the house for essential needs, but Singaporeans are urged to stay at home as much as possible.

April 6, my last day in office before the start of CB. WFH is here to stay.

April 12, compulsory of wearing mask once outside house kicks in. $300 fine for those who flout the laws.

April 21, PM Lee announce  the "circuit breaker (CB)" will extend till 1 June.

So to date, i have been working from home for 5 weeks and my sanity is slowly breaking down. I have to find motivation to get back to track and in the midst focus on work and keeping focus is a challenge that is never ending even when i get back to the office.
